GLOBAL SIMULATION COMPANY SYDAC SIGNS JOINT VENTURE IN NORTH AMERICA
Formed in 1988, with operations in Australia and Europe, Sydac is a leading supplier of simulation based training solutions for the rail, resources, transport and defence industries. Global clients include Boeing, Raytheon, RLM, Lockheed Martin, London Underground, Eurostar, ScotRail, RailCorp, BHP and Rio Tinto.
As part of the company’s ongoing global growth strategy and expansion plans in the North American rail and transport industries, Sydac has just signed an agreement with Guiding Lights Technology (GLT) to partner to service this market. This new venture will involve the establishment of a Toronto based subsidiary that will see GLT working together with Sydac to market, service and provide 24x7 customer support of simulation based training solutions based on Sydac’s unique and proprietary technology.
“Our expansion mirrors the set-up of our UK office in Derby and European development in 2006 which has proven so successful. Specifically by moving frontline maintenance and support, as well as much of the initial simulator development work, close to our customers. We believe that this is essential to provide our customers with the service and 24x7 support that differentiates us from our competition”, says Mike Hannell, Sydac Chairman. |

This new venture will provide a full range of client support services from initial project definition through to after installation service and support. Importantly it will also provide a vehicle for involving local Canadian suppliers who will play a significant role in providing cab manufacture, track database development and rolling stock modeling services. Local Canadian content is anticipated to approach 40% of the total value of Sydac simulators sold into the Canadian market and will also contribute to Sydac’s global supply chain. We are delighted to be working with the world’s leading provider of rail simulation products” says Graham Stokes, Chairman and CEO GLT.
“We specifically selected Canada to locate our North American operations because of its established rail industry and world class digital content communities and Universities. GLT is an excellent partner as it has extensive experience in the marketing of simulation based training solutions, an established contact base in the region and extensive local transport industry knowledge” explains Adrian Smith, Sydac CEO. |
